Raba is a young girl who wakes from horrible accident on the shore of an uninhabited island with her dog.  Unsure of her past or identity, she learns to survive as she comes into conflict with the island's elements and large territorial apes.  When she is eventually rescued by men from a neighboring island, Raba learns the dark mysteries of her past, and the meaning of love, hate, and revenge from an insane boy named Darius, and the island's tyrannical patriarch, Mr. Malcham.
